Semana 60

By 9:46 AM

Olá todo mundo!!

Okay so I have a million updates for you guys that I don´t even know where to start. This week was one of the biggest miracles of my mission, that started out with transfers....

My new companion is... MINHA FILHA! Sister Gallo was called to be Sister Training Leader (with 7 months.. suuuuuper early but it´s because she´s #batizadora and such an awesome missionary!!) and is my companion once again!!! I don´t know why President always does this with me, putting me together two times with more than one companion, but this time I am SO HAPPY I could not contain my excitement and ever since she got here on wednesday it has been a party and full of happy vibes. We are super united and work well together, which led to some incredible successes this week, in the form of 4 BAPTISMS!!

Sister Gallo has taught me so much in these past few days - her faith is the size of a mountain, and moves them! She taught me what it means to be courageous, to not just "have faith" but act on it and KNOW that things will happen! That was how we progressed with our investigators this week and were able to collect fruits until the Lord. I´ll share a few experiences about each of them from this week.

Carla - we have been working with Carla for the past few weeks, and she truly became converted to the gospel, showed true repentance and real desire to be baptized ever since the beginning, but the one thing holding her back was her boyfriend who is currently in prison. He wouldn´t let her be baptized, and she was so sad because she wanted to be baptized but didn´t want to choose it over her boyfriend. When we visited her for the first time with Sister Gallo, we just told her that her baptism was going to be this sunday. We put her in her interview, and as Elder Collier was talking with her she stopped, and said, "wow. I just felt something really strong. I need to be baptized. I don´t care if I lose my boyfriend. I will be baptized on sunday!" And right in that moment, her cell phone rang, and it was him calling. She told him that she would be baptized on sunday no matter what, and he was okay with it! Then she handed the phone to me and said that he wanted to talk to me. He asked me, "can you tell me more about your church?" so I have officially taught someone in prison (and don´t ask me how he has a cell phone.. welcome to Brazil).  She woke up super sick sunday morning but walked the whole way to church and came out of the water just glowing!

Luciano - we met him on wednesday night. He is friends with the stake patriarch, and earlier this week he went to talk to the patriarch and told him that he needed help and direction in his life. So, that´s where we come in :) He had already been taught by the sisters some time ago, but never progressed with them. We caught him in the right moment. As we met with him daily, he read the Book of Mormon and prayed daily, his countenance shone, and left his problems with the Word of Wisdom behind. His repentance process was beautiful, and I feel so grateful to Heavenly Father that I have the chance to take part of that in others´ lives. Luciano invited everyone that passed him to his baptism, he was so happy! And he told us on the way back from church that he felt like he was flying.

Geferson and Heric - they are the son and nephew of Vera and Jadson, the family we have been teaching. Even with Jadson working in Natal until the end of the month, he has been reading the Book of Mormon and praying daily, and Vera tells him everything that we teach their family. They want to be baptized as well! Only thing stopping them is that they need to get married, but we are progressing with them and the boys were baptized yesterday so that will continue to be a link for them.

I have learned so much this week about what faith can do to change our lives and the lives of others. I truly learned that what Mormon teaches us in Mormon 9 works.

19 And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles.

20 And the reason why he ceaseth to do miracles among the children of men is because that they dwindle in unbelief, and depart from the right way, and know not the God in whom they should trust.

21 Behold, I say unto you that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth.

Nothing can stop the work of the Lord, only our lack of faith. Nothing can stop miracles of the Lord happening in our lives other than our own unbelief. I hope that I can increase my own faith and trust in the Lord, and know that this is HIS work, and not mine.

I love you all, and have a great week!
